The idea behind Nokia + Elle Style Correspondent commercial was to create a strong call to action for fashion bloggers and fashion enthusiasts.
We decided to go with a stop-motion animation on top of the pages of a real Elle magazine.
The stop-motion animation was planned to be made entirely in-camera, with the use of cardboard, paper and iron wire. The fixed set, including a table surface and a window was built in our studio. The paper and cardboard elements were designed to appear and disappear in different ways. As the pages of the magazine turns, some objects fold out from the surface of the paper and some build up gradually block by block. To emphasize the hand-made feel, we wanted to show the hands interacting with the magazine.
Due to copyright reasons in the magazine, there are a few fictional CGI pages on top of the stop motion as well.
PS. First time we worked with Lauri and Mete from Fellowland. Top notch guys.
