Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund is an independent public fund which promotes the wellbeing and development of Finnish society. For this film, Sitra & Idealist teamed up with Anima Boutique to ask the question "what is work in 2012"? Because, at this very moment, the nature of "work" is in a state of transition in Finland. For Anima Boutique, this project was conceptually very interesting, because we were involved in dramatizing and developing a film abundant with reflection about deeply important questions. This film is meant to do the job of an introductory keynote presentation. That is, get people hooked in and start thinking. This meant that we needed to have strong focus on the text content, given that there is no voice over. At the same time, the production design needed to give style, rhythm, value and weight to carry the story. Saul Bass is an expert at this and his work with various opening title sequences is often used as a reference for doing text based animation. We hope that our work stands the comparison as we are particularly pleased with this film.
